OUR MAYOR AVNI KURT ATTENDED THE COMMEMORATION CEREMONY OF THE KOCADERE MARTYRS
830 Martyrs who were massacred by Greek soldiers and Armenian and Greek Gangs on April 29, 1921 were commemorated with a ceremony in Kocadere Village.
The Governor of Yalova Mr. Dr. Hülya Kaya, Director of the Yalova National Education Branch, Dr. Our President Avni Kurt, who left flowers at the martyrdom monument at the ceremony where Uğur Ilhan and Kocadere Village Headman Volkan Varol made a speech, said; “I commemorate those who lost their lives in the massacre in our Kocadere 103 years ago with respect and mercy.” he explained. After the speeches, the students of Kocadere Elementary School read poems. Participants of the ceremony prayed inside the monument. Mevlit was also taught for the martyrs at the Kocadere Central Mosque. In addition, rice was served to the guests in the garden of Kocadere Elementary School.
