GOLDEN ANT FIRST PRIZE TO CHINARCIK MUNICIPALITY
Çınarcık Municipality won the first place in the Golden Ant Prestige Awards, which is called the Oscar of municipalism, given by the Union of Marmara Municipalities.
Union of Marmara Municipalities organised the 10th Golden Ant project competition this year.
310 project applications were made in the Golden Ant and the projects were awarded the first prizes in 10 categories.
At the award ceremony held at Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall in Şişli, Istanbul, Çınarcık Municipality won the first prize in the Local Development category with its ‘Producing Women's Market’ project.
The prestige award, which was deemed worthy of the 1st prize by the jury consisting of 21 experts in their fields, was presented to Çınarcık Mayor Avni Kurt by Mustafa Bozbey, President of the Union of Marmara Municipalities.
Speaking after the award ceremony, Çınarcık Mayor Avni Kurt said; ‘Winning the Golden Ant, which we won many times in our first term, was a great motivation for us to win it again as soon as we arrived. The fact that our first prize winning project is for women makes our award more valuable for us. As we are proud of increasing the project capability and prestige of Çınarcık Municipality, we are happy to have touched the lives of women with our project. I dedicate this award to all women in Çınarcık!’
The Producing Women's Market project was implemented by Çınarcık Municipality last summer. With this market established at the central point of the district, women were provided with the opportunity to sell their handicraft products and earn income.
With this project, Çınarcık Municipality became the only municipality in Yalova to win the Golden Ant Award this year.
