The history of Koru town dates back to the Byzantine Empire. At that time, they gave the Kuriismini, which means the beautiful forest in Greek. In the Byzantine Empire period, the queen's mother Eudoksia's palace was chosen as the settlement area because of its location in Deveboynu, the port area, two port areas and the present town center. Until 1924, the entire population of the province constituted the resident Greek population. In 1924, as a result of the exchange between the present Greek population and the Turkish population of Thessaloniki in Greece and the Turkish population living in the Drama province, the entire population of the town is composed of Turks. The town has been named Koru instead of Kuri by the settlement of Turkish population 13 km from Yalova. Kocadere is like paradise with its unique village and its excellent natural beauties.
